Method Books

The Kinderfiddle Music Method

Introductory Music For Children

Book One in our series is the Kinderfiddle Music Method for Children for Ages 2-5. This method is conceived as a Kindergarten Through Music™. Students are introduced to music through shapes, colors, numbers, and alphabet. The essential elements of early childhood education are applied to music, through singing and movement. Students learn simple, intuitive symbols of color and shape to represent short notes and long notes, as they kinesthetically read and play according to the bowing symbols. Students experience the syllables and expression of language in Song and Movement, through intelligent kinesthetic Sing and Play. Combined with our Kinderfiddle violin trainer, muscle memory of position is automatically achieved. Our Finger GymnaSticks exercises strengthen the body and mind, with mental focus on the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms. Students learn how to hold the violin and bow correctly, bow at a perfect 90 Degree angle, place their elbow under, all in entertaining, interactive Sing and Play. In order to complete this book, students must be able to Sing and Play all the songs included, successfully complete interactive lessons, and perform their Finger GymnaSticks. This is the exclusive method offered through our Kinderfiddle Music Academy. The program starts children early in PreK-2, and is the perfect feeder program for continuing music education.

Fiddlesticks Sing and Play

Introductory Course In Music Book 1

This method book is an extension of the Kinderfiddle Music Method, but designed for ages 5-7. Students are introduced to our Fiddlesticks Symbologic™ notation, and includes 13 Classic American folk songs for Sing and Play with the Fiddlesticks. Students learn to sing and play as they memorize songs, learn mathematical concepts of music, bow movements of rhythms, explore foreign languages through lyrics, study poetry, history, and culture, and build self-confidence through individual and group participation and performance. In order to complete this book, students must be able to Sing and Play all the included songs, successfully complete interactive lessons, and perform a more advanced version of Finger GymnaSticks.

Counting On Fiddlesticks

Introductory Course For Rhythms & Bowings

Book Three in our series is Counting on Fiddlesticks. Counting is an integral part of learning music quickly. Most students do not like to clap and count. That is why we created Counting on Fiddlesticks. Our method teaches students their essential rhythms in an entirely new way. When utilized with our Fiddlesticks and Kinderfiddle Violin Trainers, students kinesthetically experience a true virtual understanding of what a whole, half, quarter, and eighth note feels like to actually bow. Our concept of deconstructing the practice of violin into component elements of learning allow the student to focus on one element at a time. This is impossible on the string instrument itself. On the Fiddlesticks, students can focus exclusively on the individual elements of muscle memory and strengthening, rhythm, bowing, and note reading development, and intonation and tonalization. Without scratching or negative feedback to discourage excellent practicing technique, the student will now have the confidence to learn music, and continue with their instrument as never before. Included in this book are all of the rhythms and bowings for Suzuki book one. Utilizing these techniques, students learn faster and enjoy the art of practice.

Finger GymnaSticks and Rhythmics

Exercises for Vertical, Horizontal, & Lateral

Hand Motions & Vibrato

Book Four in our series is our Finger GymnaSticks and RhythmicksTM. It is the new technique essential for intermediate to advanced students. The perfect workout routine for the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms. The exercises are based on Dounis, and designed for perfect execution on our Fiddlesticks Violin, Viola, and Cello Position Trainers and Correctors. Up-Motion Finger GymnaStick exercises progress in difficulty, as students develop the left hand to move horizontally, vertically, and practice true motion vibrato. The right hand bowing motions combine rhythmic bowing (Rhythmicks) with our Finger GymnaSticks. Students also master Tetrachord (Four Finger Note) positions in all essential keys and positions, reinventing practice beyond the conventional. Students learn the discipline of practice and music deconstruction, focusing on individual elements of practice and performance before recombining elements on their string instrument. A must-have for the serious musician!
